A push by China to revive its mangrove forests is paying off. Not only have mangroves colonized large areas of coastline, but the new forests have drawn scores of new bird species. The global surface air temperature is currently hotter than it has ever been this time of the year in recorded history. The global average was 2.11 degrees Celsius higher than it was the same day in 1940 on November 4th 2026, and it was 1.46 degrees higher than it was in 1980. That's a huge temperature change in the blink of an eye. Global warming is real, and the rate our planet is warming at is accelerating. Our oceans are also heating up, and they too are heating at an accelerating rate. We have seen new sea surface temperature records daily since June 2026. The global sea surface temperature was slightly more than one degree Celsius higher than it was in 1980 on November 4th 2026 and it was more than half a degree higher than 2020. One cubic meter of water holds four thousand times more energy than a cubic feet of air so that is a huge and highly significant increase in a tiny geological timeframe. El Nino is a weather pattern where unusually warm ocean conditions form along the tropical west coast of South America. This pattern repeats every few years. This year is a El Nino year and this years El Nino is many magnitudes warmer than it has been at any point in recorded history. The weather will be more extreme all over the globe in the coming months due to this pattern. Many will need to consider if they need to evacuate. Two centuries of unchecked ever-increasing fossil fuel consumption with resulting greenhouse gas pollution is catching up with us. We have changed the earth's atmosphere and our planets energy imbalance and the increasing temperatures we are seeing are a result of that imbalance over time. It will get hotter and hotter as time goes on, and the rate our planet is warming at is accelerating. There is no fix, there is no way we can remove the greenhouse gasses we have already released from the atmosphere and they are not going away on their own in any timeframe that matters. This is a very unfortunate predicament. We absolutely can avoid making this predicament worse, but that is not what the vast majority of people are doing. Most people choose to accelerate the rapid global warming we have caused by driving a car. Please take personal responsibility for the consequences of your own actions and don't drive a car, and don't buy anything you do not strictly need. All forms of human consumption causes additional damage to a biosphere now in rapid unstoppable collapse. You can and should make a difference. #climate #collapse #oceans #temperatures #elnino #biospherecollapse #globalwarming #theweakshallperish #environment

#canada Canada's 2026 federal budget is focused on driving investment, boosting the economy, and making life more affordable for Canadians. Sustainable development is critical to achieving these goals and, while there are positive commitments on this front, funding is notably absent when it comes to climate adaptation measures https://www.iisd.org/articles/statement/canada-budget-2026-invests-electricity-leaves-climate-adaptation #ClimateChange #UpheavalClimate #ClimateInstability #ClimateReversal #MassAtrocity #pollution #ecology #environment #climate

#food Climate change raises multi-toxin risks in feed Climate change could be turning mycotoxin contamination from a series of rare shocks into a far more dangerous pattern of overlapping, multi-toxin threats in feed and food, according to a new perspective published in Frontiers in Fungal Biology The paper argues that the old ‘black swan’ model, in which an exceptional drought, heatwave or wet harvest triggers one dominant toxin in one crop https://www.foodagribusiness.world/feed/climate-change-raises-multi-toxin-risks-in-feed #ClimateChange #climate

If you belong to a professional body, ask it three questions. Does its code of conduct mention climate change? Does the training you need to stay qualified cover it? Where is your pension invested? If the answers are no, no and don’t know, our paper sets out how your profession could change them https://theconversation.com/from-doctors-and-teachers-to-lawyers-every-profession-has-a-duty-to-align-with-climate-goals-294914 #ClimateChange #UpheavalClimate #ClimateInstability #ClimateReversal #MassAtrocity #pollution #ecology #environment #climate

#Brazil One year after COP30, in Belém, cities across Brazil have already begun turning climate commitments into action. Across different regions of the country, mayors are turning targets into projects, transforming transport, waste management, and the use of public funds and preparedness for the impacts of climate change, in a year marked by a super El Niño. Seven Brazilian cities are working to implement climate budgeting https://www.c40.org/news/brazilian-cities-accelerate-urban-climate-action-as-cop30-implementation-legacy-consolidates-at-the-local-level/ #ClimateChange #pollution #ecology #climate

#health #women forced to turn to imported food, which is often high in calories but low in nutrients. And this, along with a myriad of intersecting social, cultural and economic factors, has led to a rise in the rates of chronic diseases, such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease after extreme weather is increasing their domestic burden, contributing to exhaustion and mental ill-health https://phys.org/news/2026-11-climate-undermining-health-burden-falls.html #ClimateChange #UpheavalClimate #pollution #ecology #environment #climate
