Here we go: Trump regime’s latest effort to get its election interference ok’d by the Roberts Court. The regime seeks to have the Court require California to “segregate” mail ballots cast by those the regime has identified as “likely noncitizens”. This would require the Court to stay a federal district order against such segregation, an order upheld by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. https://assets.bwbx.io/documents/users/iqjWHBFdfxIU/r2A28lzqdS_4/v0 1/ #LawFedi

“Donald Trump on Friday ordered the U.S. Department of Justice to preemptively sue Alaska to block the state from certifying the results of its upcoming Senate race if the Republican candidate loses. The reason behind his unprecedented interference in the race stems from claims that voters might be confused because a candidate on the ballot, Dan J. Sullivan Jr., has a similar name to the incumbent Republican senator, Dan S. Sullivan, running for the Alaskan Senate seat. The DOJ's lawsuit, filed in federal court in Anchorage on Thursday, states the Trump administration will contest the results of the November 3rd midterm elections if the Republican loses the race to Democrat Mary Peltola. The DOJ goes on to ask a judge to block the certification of an outcome... “ #ElectionInterference #Trump #Alaska #Senate #DOJ #Fascism #Midterms #Elections #Democracy

“What makes the case even more circumspect is that Alaska's Supreme Court has already ruled on the matter, affirming that retired teacher Daniel J. Sullivan can remain on the 2026 U.S. Senate ballot alongside Republican incumbent Sen. Dan Sullivan. The real shock of what had transpired was that Trump fully admitted he ordered the Justice Department, an agency that was always historically and culturally deemed off-limits to pressure from the president, to file the suit. Trump openly and glibly boasted to reporters on Friday, saying... "I'm the one that said 'do it'" Nixon would blush at the way Trump has whored out the Department of Justice.” #Trump #ElectionInterference #HighCrimes #ImpeachAndRemove

An embarrassing episode epitomizes the #GOP’s failures to pin down #JackSmith #Republicans have struggled mightily to substantiate Trump’s desire for Smith to be charged criminally. But rarely has it seemed to backfire like it did Tuesday. Sen #EricSchmitt of Missouri crafted an apparent #ConspiracyTheory about Smith being tied to the prosecution of #Trump in Fulton County, Georgia. #law #ElectionInterference #SeditiousConspiracy #Jan6 #insurrection #PoliticalViolence

“For them to come in five weeks before the election, yeah, nice effort,” said Nevada’s Democratic Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar, who added that he would have liked to see the federal government provide more funding for #cybersecurity, rather than Nevada taxpayers having to pay for it. #Trump #ElectionInterference #law #CISA

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin had originally promised to release the plan by mid-August as part of the #Trump administration’s move to kickstart #election security assistance after a hiatus. He announced the plan at the same time he threatened election officials for not cooperating with the administration’s preferred methods to hunt down noncitizen voting, a phenomenon that research shows is extremely rare. #ElectionInterference #law #CISA

The #US #Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency, which is housed under DHS, has since its founding in 2018 helped warn state & local #election officials about potential threats from foreign governments. But #CISA, as it’s known, was largely absent from that role in last year’s elections after the #Trump admin dismantled much of its role in election security. #ElectionInterference #law

The #Trump admin cut some 1,000 employees from #CISA & slashed $10 million from two #cybersecurity initiatives, including one dedicated to helping state & local #election officials. CISA has also gone the entirety of Trump’s second term without a Senate-confirmed director, instead cycling through a series of acting leaders. #ElectionInterference #law

‼️‼️‼️ #SCOTUS cleared the way for #Trump to move ahead with his executive order restricting #MailVoting, though it remains unclear how much his admin can implement before the #midterm #elections. The decision appears to leave room for additional court challenges that could further slow Trump’s order. And with some states beginning to send #MailBallots to voters in just a few weeks, time is running short to impose major changes. #law #ActivistCourt #ElectionInterference

With #Trump's #Republicans defending slim majorities in both chambers of #Congress, his admin has mounted an aggressive effort to expand federal “oversight” of [interference in] #elections ahead of the November 3 #midterms. Trump argues that widespread noncitizen voting is benefiting the Democratic Party, even though state audits ‌& independent studies have found noncitizen voting to be incredibly rare. #law #BigLie #ElectionInterference #US #Constitution #coup

A Reuters investigation found that just 129 people have been prosecuted for noncitizen voting since a law criminalizing it was passed in 1996 [that’s 129 people over 30 years], & that most of those cases stemmed from voter confusion or miscommunication with election officials rather than any conspiracy. #Trump #law #BigLie #ElectionInterference #US #Constitution #coup
