Last week I went back to a small wood on a hill in the Chilterns, in heavy rain. It was not turning all at once. The side the prevailing winds come from had turned the most, the moisture swept up off it, while the opposite side was still very green. I was so taken up with a couple of frames that I did not notice how soaked my legs had got, until a windswept, rain-soaked walker came past.
