Biologist Pierre Joliot, photosynthesis pioneer and grandson of Pierre and Marie Curie, dies at 94 "Inspired by the work of American scientist Robert Emerson, Joliot used light flashes to study the oxygen production of algae and observed that it took 4 pulses to release the gas, leading him to decipher one of the fundamental mechanisms of photosynthesis: 4 electrons must be stripped from a water molecule for 1 molecule of oxygen to be produced." https://archive.is/i0HzB #PlantScience #Science

Hi everyone! 👋 I'm an Assistant Professor at the University of Verona (Italy), working on plant nutrition, plant physiology and plant-soil interactions. 🌱 Right now I'm digging into non-destructive root phenotyping for hydroponically grown plants — would love to meet people working on root imaging, rhizotrons, image analysis (Fiji, SmartRoot...). Also Section Editor for *Plant and Soil*, in case that's useful to know 😄 Glad to be here, looking forward to chatting! 👋 #PlantScience #PlantBiology #RootPhenotyping #Hydroponics #AcademicChatter #introduction
