Google reportedly cleared 250,000 TREES in Finland for a data centre without the environmental impact assessment required by law. Finnish authorities ordered Google to halt construction, but the damage has already been done. What was once a forest has been turned into a muddy field. Murky water flowing from the site into a nearby river has also raised concerns about potential harm to wildlife. #google #finland #datacentres #AI #suomi #forests #bigtech #timetoresist

New, by me: Tech Firms Dismantle Botnet That Turned 1.3M TV Boxes Into Proxies Google said today it worked with industry partners to dismantle a botnet made up of more than 1.3 million Android TV set-top boxes that ship with malicious software which secretly rents the user’s Internet connection out to strangers and conducts advertising fraud. Experts involved in the takedown say the action is likely to sever the botnet’s access to more than 10 million additional compromised systems, including other Internet of Things (IoT) products such as Android-based healthcare devices and karaoke machines. https://krebsonsecurity.com/2026/11/tech-firms-dismantle-botnet-that-turned-1-3m-tv-boxes-into-proxies/ #botnet #cybercrime #google #IoT #xcpe

Google seems to have labeled The Guardian (https://www.theguardian.com/) a deceptive website. Right before the US election. Interesting “mistake,” no? I used the “deceptive website link” to paste the URL into a text editor - it was The Guardian’s URL, not the URL that the report deceptive website report listed - and I was able to read the article in #The_Guardian #Google needs to answer for this deception.

#Google is killing itself Most of Google income comes from AdWords, aka selling advertisements that are displayed on websites Many people used Google to search for a website, go there and maybe click on an ad or increase the ad views Nowadays Google rips info people are looking for from the websites and displays it in their "AI summary" while taking away website visits and therefor advertisements clicks and views Not even speaking about the costs of AI What are they smoking at HQ Google..

The beauty of #Mozilla coming out against regulating #Google because they depend on the money Google pays them is that we're only a few years away from them saying that we can't regulate #AI companies for the very same reason - "The AI #LLM companies pay us, and wouldn't it be a pity if #firefox went away if you regulate them?" Mozilla now seems to want to entrench the worst of the web, as long as they get a cut of the proceeds.

In Finland, Google chopped down 250,000 trees, without a permit, to make room for a shiny new data centre. If you are still using Google, maybe it’s time to ask yourself whether its services are worth a quarter‑million trees and why we have to sacrifice so much of our nature. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/ng-interactive/2026/oct/22/finland-google-felling-trees-datacentre #google #nature

Google illegally chopping down a massive forest in Finland and even removing the topsoil so nothing can grow again. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/ng-interactive/2026/oct/22/finland-google-felling-trees-datacentre Makes sense. If copyright no longer applies to big corporations, as LLMs have shown, then why should any other regulation? I'm not sure an appropriate fine is even possible for this. And you can't put that forest back. I predict we'll be having angry people burning down datacenters in the next couple years. #Google #Deforestation #Datacenter #Finland

RE: https://mastodon.social/@randahl/117025495645108489 the #MAGA #gringolarchy are actively sabotaging PM Pedro Sáchez of #Spain when i read the #Ceuta crisis was incited on social media, it’s clear it was a #psyops, not just thru #Xitter, but most likely TikTokUSA. who is to say the #MAGA controlled #TikTokUSA isn't being used to swap out the Chinese owned one in places like #Morocco? who is to say TikTokUSA is not paying #Google and #Apple to swap the apps in regions like #MENA? after all, USA won't regulate nor audit #techbros social media.

Why did 60,000 migrants suddenly breach the Spanish border at the Spanish exclave of Ceuta? Here is an interesting clue: — On July 15, the US House Republicans passed a national security bill (1). — This bill was based on a report from the Committee of Appropriations, which stated that the US is now working to help Marocco take over two Spanish territories in North Africa: Ceuta, Spanish since 1580, and Melilla, Spanish since 1497 (2). So… 1/2
