📦 New FeedEcho destination: GitHub. One user asked for it, so here it is. FeedEcho can now publish feed items as markdown files straight into a GitHub repo. Connect a repo with a fine-grained PAT, then set a file path template and body template per echo. Front matter renders like any other template text, so your feed's tags land in the file. Hi BizzFed. I'm Jürgen. I got into IT in 1989 by writing software documentation, before I owned a computer. I never stopped writing. At LakeDrops, a small Drupal agency, I maintain ECA, a workflow engine on more than 25,000 websites. Since July 2025 almost all my working time has gone into open source. The community never got an invoice for that. In September it did. More on that later. So far I've only written for the Drupal crowd. Here I'm looking for people who have never installed Drupal and still ask the same questions. How do I automate work without chaining myself to a vendor? Which AI tools do I actually control? Hi everyone! This is my first post here in the Fediverse. Most of what I am and I do is already covered in my Bio, so I'll keep this short: I'm a FOSS developer and very often I'm into low level, reverse engineering and retrocomputing stuff. Since 2017, I've been working on my own disassembler engine written in C to challenge myself and learn what it's like to build reverse engineering tools instead of just using them. Why is it so difficult to escape Android and build a truly open smartphone operating system? On a PC, installing Linux is relatively straightforward. On a smartphone, it's a completely different story. Proprietary drivers, closed firmware, locked bootloaders, vendor restrictions and hardware dependencies make it incredibly difficult for independent developers to build alternatives. Android may be open source, but that doesn't mean the entire smartphone is open. Projects like GrapheneOS, /e/OS and postmarketOS are working to change that, but they face significant technical and hardware limitations.
