📢 Account move notification Almost everything is ready to move my social home to @fabio@manganiello.tech (@fabio@manganiello.tech). The new account runs on #Yonder. Yonder is a social platform I’ve been working on for a while, and I’ll soon write about it more in detail. It’s an #ActivityPub server written in #Rust and fully compatible with Mastodon and Pleroma/Akkoma, plus with other #Indieweb features I like (support for #Webmentions, and #OpenID coming soon). Plus it implements features (like on-demand remote fetch of statuses/threads context, support for Threadiverse-like actors, OAuth-based account migration that also includes posts and interactions without needing to move CSV files around, better storage management…) that I’ve wanted in those platforms for a while but I’ve struggled to get merged. If you follow me here, you can hit the follow button on the new account (and if you don’t, don’t worry, my followers will be migrated at some point between today and tomorrow).

Just made the first release of my new offline-first social-network-y tool called Nýtt! https://crates.io/crates/nytt

I've got a few bits of cleanup to do in the next few days, and then I'll record a "First Steps" screencast and add some getting started docs. If you're interested in trying it before then: cargo install nytt; nytt ui or nytt help.

I spent some time writing about a #rust library I've been working on: seqair, an alternative to (a subset of) htslib. This is a big one! So much potential API surface to cover and I better have a good reason for it! deterministic.space/seqair.html

Alright Fedi, I'm looking for a job out of AI hell. I know chances aren't great for anyone right now, but I'm taking mine anyway. I'm a (senior?) #Python developer with 10 years of experience in both #DataScience and #SoftwareEngineering (with a preference for the latter). I can find my way around #Rust and don't shy away from #JavaScript. I've done a bit of #React lately and haven't found it terrible. I thrive in team environments where I have time both to work on my own and in pairs or mobs ( https://mob.sh is a great tool I'd use again, but IntelliJ's Code With Me works too). My greatest passion is automating the tasks around coding away - testing, building, deploying code with either the shortest set of commands or just fully automated from a pipeline on pull/merge requests. I won't say no to places that require me to use AI, but I have a strong preference to be able to write my code myself. Would love boosts for reach! Also thanks for reading 💖 #FediJob #BoostsWelcome #BoostsAppreciated #GetFediHired Edit because I'm really dumb: looking in the greater #Mainz/ #Wiesbaden area in #Germany or fully remote. Remote is generally an important factor for me for personal reasons; if your company does things like "3 days a week office", I will only be able to do this in a very small radius.

Hello! I'm building Slipstream, a keyboard-first Linux desktop with its own Wayland compositor, written in Rust with Smithay. It's built to look the way the movies always showed computers, and to put your concentration first: notifications wait until you pause typing, and windows you didn't ask for can't steal the keyboard. I'll be posting progress, clips and the occasional compositor rabbit hole. #introduction #Linux #Wayland #Rust Attach ~/Videos/slipstream-launch/hero.mp4

I would appreciate input and help for using a debugger for #Rust development: I usually don't use or need a debugger, but I would like to step through some code to get a better understanding. I would prefer to do this from within my #NeoVim so I installed https://codeberg.org/mfussenegger/nvim-dap and the default lldb command line tools. When trying to start a pre-build binary via my config, I get "Error on launch: executable module does not exist" even when hard-coding the correct path in my config [...]
