I used to see my art as childish and something that anyone could throw together. Being able to do art regularly meant I had to get over and start ignoring that voice that told me I wasn't a good enough artist. It also meant doing away with the concept of there being 'good' and 'bad' art.
I still don't call myself an artist, but maybe I should start doing that.

In the Desert by Stephen Crane.
(again, sorry).
In the desert
I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
Who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.
I said, ‘Is it good, friend?’
‘It is bitter — bitter,’ he answered;
‘But I like it
Because it is bitter,
And because it is my heart.’
