On an otherwise wonderful night, some awful anti-trans ballot measures passed in four states. However, #Colorado now has a Dem supermajority plus the governorship. That means they can easily undo the bad propositions. Colorado, apparently, will remain safer than many other states on #trans issues. The premise behind the anti-#trans sentiment is that men would endure years of hormone treatment, social stigma, and even surgery, just to visit a public bathroom and pee in a closed stall next to another stall with a woman inside. That is the dumbest premise for hatred I have ever heard. Those who transition do so because, after years of consideration, they have realized this is their only viable path to becoming their true selves. Respect that.

The language we use is more important than most people give it credit for. Language shapes how people interact with things. Ignoring a "preference" is easier and given much more social grace than ignoring a "fact", for example #trans #transgender #queer #lgbt #lgbtq #lgbtqia
