With a fresh OpenBSD release just around the corner, this may be a good time to reprise my 2021 article "What every IT person needs to know about OpenBSD" https://nxdomain.no/~peter/what_every_it_person_needs_to_know_about_openbsd.html (also available in smaller chunks at apnic.net) #openbsd #security #networking #development #freesoftware #libresoftware

Reading a lot of Linux projects talking about LLMs now, focusing on if they work well enough or not. No talk about ethics, ideals or politics.
If it continues down this path, FLOSS will end up like the Ed Sheeran of software.

One thing I wish I knew earlier:
Surveillance is global, moving to a "safe" country is not an option.
It won't save my ass.
I have to use libre and encrypted secure software for the rest of my life.
EU, USA, Canada, China, Russia, Türkiye, UK, Commonwealth countries... Same shit different flags...

OMG you guys holy CRAP nerdgasm WHY DID NOBODY TELL ME ABOUT #HELIBOARD
So I've been on #GrapheneOS for three years. Never touched Android before that. I installed OpenBoard on day one, based on what I took to be the consensus. Liked it very much.
Today it started acting up. Baffling. Decided to uninstall/reinstall. Not listed in #fdroid ... because the repo has not been touched in FOUR YEARS
Cut to me trying FlorisBoard (also impressive, except it currently lacks text suggestions, dealbreaker) and settling on HeliBoard.
Not only does it cram in ALL KINDS of how-did-I-live-without-it functionality, but the design exposes all of it with gentle discoverability. A SHOWPIECE of #foss #floss #libresoftware
Please suggest me a good Lemmy Android app that allows me to moderate my own Lemmy communities that I created.

Replying to
@dansup@mastodon.social or better idea, maybe just a new app for buying and selling stuff that could be a great alternative to Facebook Marketplace and Karrot.
